At that place are two phrases that, if uttered in the aforementioned judgement, audio absolutely incorrect. "Summer outfits" and "brute prints." Styling beast prints is a delicate art—one thattends to work best during the agenda's coldest months, when you tin mellow out your animal print with a agglomeration of black layers. Summer animal print outfits, on the other mitt, sound basically blasphemous. Animal prints are meant to exist used sparingly, right? They're supposed to exist the pop of fun in an otherwise-neutral ensemble, right? They'd surely look incredibly tacky if paired with summer'due south brightest, most saturated colors, correct?!
Merely if my line of logic is sound, why are there then many animal print clothes on offer in some of our favorite retailers? Seriously, Free People, Urban Outfitters, Topshop and ASOS are all filled to the skirt with fauna prints. So are Lulus, Missguided, Nasty Gal and Forever 21. Not to mention, my Instagram feed is, too. And the last fourth dimension I checked, it was however July—AKA, the heart of summer. Could it be? Could summer animal print outfits really be happening?
Every bit a fan of any sartorial challenge—no thing how daunting—I set out to principal this perplexing trend one time and for all: I decided to way five summer-friendly animate being impress outfits. And permit me merely say, I've only worn animate being prints a few times earlier. I've long felt brute prints were all-time enjoyed invery small doses—a cheetah print scrunchie here, or a pair of snakeskin sandals in that location. I've never humored the idea of decking myself out in head-to-toe animal prints—by and large considering I figured in that location was no way to practice it without looking like I stepped fresh out of the Jersey Shore beach business firm, manus-in-hand with my BFF Snooki.
Did I emerge from this weeklong experience ready to sport all-over creature prints on the daily? No. I'grand definitely skeptical of animal prints during the summertime—and honestly, still a little wary of animal prints during any flavour. But I'yard definitely more than willing to get adventurous with them than I was before. And that'south at least some kind of win for Team Animal Print, correct?
Shirt: Missguided | Tube Top: Missguided | Shorts: Missguided | Lid: writer's own
Summer ishither, y'all. And then tube tops and shorts are my jam for the next couple months. To start things off in the about low-key way possible, I opted for an brute print tiptop that I couldremove if I started feeling uncomfortable. I stuck with an all-black expect (always a classic), threw on some fun accessories and topped things off with a lightweight snake print top. (Which—fun fact—I did not end up taking off.)
Elevation: LIT Bazaar | Pants: PrettyLittleThing | Shoes: Missguided | Chapeau: Brixton
This, yous guys, THIS was out of my comfort zone. As I headed out the door in these in-your-confront chetah print culottes, I nearly turned effectually and changed my pants. They were loud AF. To tone things down, I decided to continue the rest of my ensemble as neutral equally possible—tan and blackness. 1 matter I've learned about styling cheetah prints? It's like shooting fish in a barrel to go overboard. Unleash your inner minimalist and lean into subtlety.
Overalls: Missguided | Shirt: Missguided | Sunglasses: LOFT
I have to say of all the animal impress pieces I experimented with, these cheetah overalls were probably my favorite. My style is very fun and playful, and then these were right up my alley. At this indicate, I was feeling alittle more confident with animal print wearing apparel, and so a vivid-colored tiptop was the answer to styling these bottoms. I mean, hey, I take pink hair. Clearly, I'm non afraid of color—and then I figured I might as well become all in, right?
One-piece: Gratuitous People | Shoes: writer's own | Chapeau: Olive + Pepper
Jumpsuits volition forever be my become-to, so when I had the opportunity to effort one out that was decked out in fauna print, I jumped at the adventure. Thanks to the neutral green tone, I didn't feel very out of place in this jumpsuit—which was honestly pretty surprising, since it was caput-to-toe ZEBRA PRINT. (WHAT?!)
Summit: Lulus | Pants: Lulus | Shoes: writer's own | Lid: Lack of Colour
Past the cease of this experiment, I caught myself feelingi ntothe idea of wearing animal print pieces more frequently. Normally, when I'yard looking to add some spice to an outfit, I achieve for ane of the brightest colors in my closet. This fourth dimension, I grabbed a cheetah impress top, instead. (Progress!)
